The 2012 American Cancer Society’s annual Pensacola Cattle Baron’s Ball was held at New World Landing Friday, July 20th. This year’s event drew over 250 generous guests to come out and donate $117,000. This years’ Barons included: Marianne Estess, Teri Levin, The Gamble Family/GRC Realty, Pensacola News Journal, Sacred Heart Cancer Center, Dr. Thomas and Donna Sunnenberg, McMahon Hadder/Larry and Diane Robbins, John and Jerre Peacock, Cat Country 98.7/ News Radio 1620 and New World Landing.

Thanks to all of the donors, supporters, and volunteers who made this event such a success. The American Cancer Society of Pensacola is dedicated to saving lives and creating more birthdays by helping people get well and to stay well through research, education, advocacy and patient services. Since 2001 the Pensacola Cattle Baron’s Ball has raised over $1 million. This is the 5th year in a row that New World Landing has hosted the event.

New World Landing will host a Bridal Open House from 12:00 Noon to 5:00 PM on Sunday January 8th, 2011. The event will be held simultaneously and in conjunction with the 9th Annual Beautiful Beginnings Bridal Expo at the Pensacola Civic Center. New World Landing will have a booth at the Bridal Expo with information on and directions to the Open House. New World Landing is located just a short stroll away from the Pensacola Civic Center at 600 S. Palafox Street.

New World Landing will have 3 banquet halls set up for weddings and receptions to showcase the facilities. Also, New World Landing’s event coordinators will be available to answer questions regarding facilities rentals, catering, and accommodations. Guests will also enjoy complimentary champagne/wine and hors d’oeuvres. Several door prizes will be given away including 2 night stay in the Inn, a free banquet room rental, and 10% off the food portion of the bill.

New World Landing is downtown Pensacola’s premier wedding facility. As an event space it is unique in that it offers not just a spacious hall perfect for weddings and receptions but also a boutique hotel and superb catering by Chef Nick Farkas. The main hall has the historic charm of downtown Pensacola and can accommodate up to 800 seated guests and as many as 2,500 guests for a stand-up cocktail affair. Another option is an elegant atrium which can accommodate 50 seated for dinner and 120 standing for cocktails. A Night at the Opera

On Saturday, September 17, VIE attended Pensacola Opera’s seventh annual Jukebox Gala at New World Landing in downtown Pensacola! We had such a wonderful evening!

Jukebox Gala is the Opera’s signature fall fundraising event where, over a gourmet wine dinner, opera stars serenade guests tableside. The evening began with a preview of the upcoming season. Then the rest of the evening’s entertainment was determined by the guests as they bid on popular selections from opera and musical theatre to be performed for them course by course.

Featured talent included sopranos Jane Redding, Sewell Griffith, Shelia Murphy and Betsy Ushcraft, mezzo-sopranos Elise Quagliata and Hanan Tarabay, tenors Tyler Smith and Roderick George, and baritones Howard Reddy, Kenneth Overton and Corey McKern with Blake Riley on the piano.

In addition to the fabulous entertainment, Chef Nick Farkas of New World Landing/600 South prepared an elegant, four-course dinner to pair with the evening’s wine selections provided by Premier Beverage. Fabulous themed baskets and experiences were available for bidding, including a weekend getaway to Napa Valley.

On the heels of a successful concert at the Saenger Theatre, the Pensacola Symphony Orchestra, through the efforts of its guild, continued the tradition of the Magnolias and White Linen luncheon.

The first chairwoman of the guild, Connie Crosby, created this fundraiser in 1986. Since then, many outstanding speakers have been featured.

Former Miss America Lee Meriwether was guest of honor at the 25th anniversary luncheon at New World Landing last week. Event chairwoman Beverly Donahue and guild president Amelia Asmar presided over the festivities and a wonderful lunch prepared by Nick Farkas, the new chef at NWL.

The more than 300 guests included Pat and Donna Quinn, Norma Murray, Judy Burns, Janie Stewart, Sue Penfold, Martha Clark, Evelyn Davis, Ros Leahy, Kat Davis, Betty Ward, Beth Boles, Terry Brent, Paul Tobin, Nancy Brown, Blanca Fernandez, Margarette Byrd, Jo Jones and Crystal Joy Albert.
